Side scrolling beat-em up using 3d modelsIt’s a standalone story and doesn’t follow the exact plot of Netflix show or movies. Similar to filler arcs in anime. Takes place between season 1 and 2.Choose dojo you want to side with. Levels are the same, just different story. Story is pretty much the same, just role reversal. Need to complete the game twice to get true endingFighting styles are different for each dojo as one uses fire attacks while the other uses Ice.Typical punch, kick and dodge/counter. There are special moves on cooldown. For each character 4 dojo special moves, and 4 character specific moves. Use them by holding R2 or L2 trigger then a face buttonThere are environmental interactions and weapon pickupsYou gain new characters along the way which you can swap between them. They act as lives in the game.Enemies drop tokens where you can use to upgrade individual character’s skill tree, or upgrade base dojo moves/overall stats for everyone in your partyThere’s also in-game challenges that give you additional tokens or permanent stat upgradesThere is a grind for later levels as enemies are more bullet…body(?) sponges. There’s also a boss that heals occasionally which is very annoyingThere is couch co-opGraphics look like they’re from the PS3 graphics. Frame rate is constant for the most part. Character animations can feel janky at first, but you get used to itFor re-playability, you can aim for high score for each level, and revisit levels for collectablesOverall, very good beat em’ up for a movie/show licensed game. Can be repetitive in terms of core gameplay, but the progression system/upgrades keeps you playing. Good game for those who just want to mash buttons most of the time and relax instead of focusing on skill (unless you’re underleveled)
