My son shredded these things with use!My son has wide feet, and New Balance are our go-to shoe for him. I am taking away one star because after a few months the mesh had started to tear away.But only one star, because my kid is an abusive shoe-wearer. Nike and Addidas hurt my son's feet. They seem to be a bit on the narrow-rigid side. These things are wide and they flex easily with the foot, with a light foam like sole.Even after these shoes looked like Bruce Banner's shirt post-hulk transformation, my son kept wearing them. He loved these shoes.We are getting New Balance shoes again for him this year.Pros:Wide enough for my son's feet.Comfortable.My son loved the style and color.Cons:Kids will shred these.I want to preface this review with, my son who I bought these for does not walk or stand--he is a full time wheelchair user, 8 years old. I bought him these shoes to wear when he's not wearing his foot braces because they are lightweight and come in wide. There's no need to anchor him down with heavy shoes! He wanted black and red, and these were the ones that were light and the right price! The only thing is they are not as wide as I wanted, but he has unusual feet due to his paralysis. I do plan to purchase some shoes similar to these for my daughter (who is not disabled) when she needs new shoes, and probably some for me as well! I am totally amazed at how light they are. New Balance makes great shoes! No opinion on how they wear, obviously, since he won't wear them out, but they are cute and he likes them.This is our second pair of New Balance IONIX shoes. As usual with kids, my son outgrew the first pair before he could ever wear them out. They are light, comfortable, and (sometimes unfortunately) actually help him run faster. I never believed in such a thing before. Shoes are shoes, right? No. Whatever geniuses came up with the sole pattern knew exactly what twists and turns a child will take in an effort to evade their non-IONIX-armed parent. I have given up chasing him and instead wait for him on his next speedy lap - wisely getting his feet off the ground first.Bottom line: I absolutely recommend these shoes. The kid loves them and they are very well built. Finally, did you know New Balance are manufactured in America?I have New Balance brand shoes, having left Nike and others behind as I matured because they look like a well crafted shoe. However, this doesn't seem to be what I expected. The soles look and feel almost like a plastic cast. Frankly, they look cheap.My son, after putting them through the ringers for a day, said they feel okay.I'm just worried we'll have to buy another pair too soon.Great breathable shoe for kids. My son loves them. I would keep into consideration that they are all fabric. If your child plays tough and does not consider the fabric they will eventually tear through the mesh. It is layered so it's not too bad. My son has big feet for his age so he ripped through the first layer of mesh in a few months of wear. If he was a little older I know it wouldn't have been an issue. They are still a great sneaker though. They are lightweight and great for active children. I would recommend these shoes for sure.my son loves running in these as they are so lightweight and comfortable BUTThis meant they were trashed after one summer, when he wore them for jogging and hiking and to camp every day (non camp days he wore crocs--he much preferred the crocs whenever he could get away with it as no socks required). Survived the winter as he mostly wears boots and these were just used for gym. but now it is spring and they are holding on by a few threads only.I wish NB wasn't the only company that made wide shoes as I'd like something more durableI love the look and fit of the shoe on my son, however they have not held up very well with my rough of the mill son. It only took less than a month (winter to boot) for the tops to start to fray and come apart. Still wears them but don't hold up the greatest, which is kinda shocking for the price.Purchased these for my 9yr old son in a size 4.5 to run with the cross country team and he loves them! They are cool looking and super light. He has only had them for a week, but I feel I would definitely buy again! Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 as it is too soon to tell the durability of the shoe.
