Material is thicker than most at a Walmart or Target. We are happy with the purchase. This was a gift for a seven-year- old boy. He lives on a farm. These boots prevent him from getting bitten by snakes, etc He loves them!Fit as expected- perfect for muddy yards or rainy days. I liked the higher leg height and slightly more fitted leg on my kids - some other rain boots we’ve had were really loose and floppy, and shorter. These are great for a good price.I bought these for my son to fish in and he's had no complaints thus far.... They are tall enough to keep the water out and have a good tread on them so he doesn't slip on the wet rocks.Size was fine. I normally wear women's 6 but this worked out fine.I bought these for my daughter who takes weekly outdoor classes with a local program here in the PNW. Mud boots/galoshes are a must for her class, where they spend time outdoors rain or shine and often visit wooded areas with creeks, and everything in Portland is muddy in the spring when it rains.I was worried about going one size up but nearly every review warned to do so, and so I took the gamble myself. My six year old is technically a size 11 in sneakers and sandals (New Balance and Keen respectively, if that helps) and while the size 12 is loose on her (she can slip right in and out with socks and skinny jeans on) they do NOT fall off when she's running around stomping and kicking in puddles, or hiking around town. They have a snug fit right at the top of the foot near the ankle (snug, not uncomfortable, just enough pressure to keep the boot on the foot). I do agree with all other reviews mentioning this - go one size up. The boot won't fall off even if it's a little big, and your child will have this boot for longer as they can grow into the larger size. The boot itself is the highest quality rain/mud boot I've ever bought for her. I can see this lasting her for the next year (let's be real here, these are for our children who hit massive growth spurts! Don't expect a boot to last much longer than a year due to child growth, but expect it to last many years based on quality). The build is sturdy, the treads are aggressive and she says the boot is very comfy to walk and run in. No complaints of foot fatigue or blisters.Have had these for 8 months and used on and off for a 7 yr old boy. He has normal sized feet and they fit nice and maybe even snug or 'perfect'. Not all floppy around like some oversized boot. It makes him want to use/wear the boot more. NO issues with cracking. WE use them as motorcycling boots too since they are stiff enough that they provide some protection. I have done a TON of research and looked at every boot in every store in my town, Bellingham, wa that was available. This is the best for the buck. Good traction, thick, protective, doesn't crack, name brand and fits nice and normal. can wear for hours. All the others had issues like: too thin (easily poke hole), no traction (whats the point? mud? hello!), known for cracking in the bend-zones or ugly or too expensive. The only other option worth considerinng are the brown boots that look like dads big ones. Neoprene boots. They are about 23$ and probably much high quality rubber/neoprene. Sold at lfs. They are thin though. And lower levels of traction on bottom of boot. I may try a pair for my other son to see how it goes. The toe protection allows a kid to kick something pretty harrd and not hurt toes. Thinner boots won't offer the same protectiion. I would buy these again, but wish a local shop provided them so we could get thhe right size everytime.Updated: bought two more sets of these awesome boots for my other kids. Simply love them. Best bang for the buck out there. Period.Perfect barn bootsuntill this moment, these boots are absolutely waterproof, our child's foots are dry, and this is what we really need. Sehr bedenklich! After buying so many 'cheap' rainboots this is it! I have found the perfect toddler rain boot. Other cheap rainboots crack and leak, after much research these came highly recommended and I got them yesterday you can tell the quality is amazing in comparison to walmart brand rainboots. And they are made in Canada, and part of a recycling program!I will update if these end up cracking or leaking too, but no news is good news! Love these! Even bought a pair for myself! (mumma)I have purchased Kamik rain boots for my children as they outgrow the previous size. These are my favorite as the slimmer fit of the top keeps these boots on their feet. Great for toddlers/preschoolers. I will continue to purchase these boots in different sizes for my children.
