Kids rain boots are not known to be comfy or meant to be worn for long periods of time, but that's probably a good thing, otherwise they'd probably want to wear them all the time and splash around in puddles all day long and what parent in their right mind would want to do that? :)This brand is the only brand of rain boots I have purchased for my boys. They are super durable. Good quality construction as well. For rain boots, these are the best I've come across. I have compared them to the cheap black rubber ones at Walmart and while those will do the job these are much nicer. What you are paying for with these boots is the look and quality. If you want the plain black rubber ones, just get them from Walmart. If I am giving these such, high praise, why 4 stars you may ask? Good question. Here's why. There isn't a whole lot of cushioning inside the boot. The liner in the boot is really thin and really could be better if it was just a bit thicker and had more cushioning. Sure I could just go to a store and buy some Dr. Scholl's insoles, but that would cost me more. If these boots were made to be more comfortable, by simply coming with a better liner and could be worn all day, you can bet this would be a 5 star rating. No matter what my rating though, if you get these or any of the Western Chief brand boots, you can't go wrong. They keep your little ones feet dry as long as they aren't jumping in water so deep the water flows in from the top of the boot! Thanks for reading!First off I have had trouble finding rain boots for my 1 year old. I found these and I am so happy I will never look back. My son is a size 4. So I ordered a size 5. They fit beautifully, with room to grow. These boots are so well constructed and sturdy. These are better made than any rain boot Ive seen in any local retail store, adult included. The colors are brilliant. They were easy to put on. My son had no trouble walking in them. And the tread on these boots will make them useful in the mud and even snow. I am so happy. I will be buying Western Chief over and over as my son grows. So so pleased. Thank you for such a wonderful product!**Please note: all the bad reviews youve read, have come from 2011. Most of the 2013 reviews are outstanding!**Update: it is now the beginning of November 2013. And these boots are proving themselves, invaluable. Every time my son wants to "go". He goes straight for these boots. They are still easy to slip on and off. They have been through many a rain puddle and mud and garden and chicken coops and rocks (just to name a few) hehe. They are holding up beautifully. If I could add 10 stars I would. My 18mo son is now a size 5 and hes still only about 22lbs. And they still fit him perfectly. VERY HAPPY! Cant wait to buy more.My daughter, husband, and I love going on nature walks and I decided to purchase these boots for my first grader since she loves splashing around in puddles and wading in streams and creeks. These are nice, sturdy boots. The pink color was greatly appreciated by my daughter, and she loves walking around in them. I had her wear it last weekend when we went fishing in a nearby stream. The boots did a good job of keeping her feet comfortable and dry, well, until she fell into the stream!Anyway, I purchased this in kids' size 1 so that she'll get more use out of it (she is actually a 13), and though it is a bit big, she is still able to walk in it comfortably without it slipping off. When we got back from the walk, I rinsed the boots out, and the insoles come off quite easily, to make cleaning convenient.I bought these for my 5 year old. During his first use he played in deep water and filled the boots...but all I had to do My daughter LOVES these boots. she literally tries to nap in them some days! They've survived well through rain, mud, rocky terrain, & sand. These boots do not leak through the actual boot. Recommend. We originally ordered these one size up based off the other reviewers. They were huge on my son. He is a toddler size 10-10.5. He is four, and in the 95th percentile for height and weight and he is tall with larger, fatter feet. I was surprised when the size up were so large on him I thought the other reviewers children must be really large or the company is not consistent. After getting the size we needed (10) they work well. They are not the best, high end quality but they are perfect for my child to put on himself and tromp through the puddles. The inside little piece does come out often so we just stopped putting it back in, it makes no difference for the shoe.Last year I learned the hard way that these boots run big. Very big. My twin girls ended up with size 8 boots. We love them. Living in SoCal there isn't need for heavy duty rain boots. These held up just fine, and they're cute. So, this year I ordered a size 9 for my girls. Guess what. They are exactly the same size as the 8's from last year! Maybe the company has read the reviews from so many people that their sizing is off?? For the 2nd year in a row I have to send boots back and re-order in another size.I also bought these boots in a size 5 for my 18mos old. He wears a 6 so I thought I was smart to order down. Nope, these are too small. When I look now to see about ordering his correct size they are sold out in size 6. Like all the size 6's are gone. Ugh.I am an adult, though I have very small feet and can wear children's shoes. I prefer the childrens rain boots to adults which is why I bough these. I bought them a size smaller than I would normally wear (normally I wear children's three, but I bought a children's two for these) since I'd read that rain boots can go a little bigger than ordinary shoes. They fit great, though if you're buying them for a child I'd consider getting them the normal size, since children's feet grow rather fast. But if you're unusual like me and are buying them for yourself, consider going down a size! They look fabulous. They were a lot shorter than they look in picture though, which was disappointing! Lower mid calf on my 2 year old rather than the standard a bit below knee. Not so great for paddling in the sea. Seem well made though.
