Super quality shoe with a DECENT arch support for a Mary Jane- great kid, school, multi surface shoe. I purchased a size 6, which my daughter wears- it fits like a 7, but I have always found Timberland to be generous in sizing. Not a bad thing, if your foot is wider, it may only be a 1/2 size difference. Nicely padded insoles with a flexible (running, playground, etc) traction oriented outer sole. Soft fit heel, but minimal padding (we have skinny heels!) You cannot alter the strap, its pre fit, so if your a super skinny foot, it's not for you. The pre-fit strap is very soft, should not cause anyone pain or discomfort unless you have a lot of width issues- this is only the regular fit, so lots of give and support. Non marking sole with lined instep, covered toe with leather outer that could probably use water proofing for northern climates in winter (buy the spray). We will look for a smaller size, this could be a great school shoe, dressy, but functional for every day wear.My kindergartener was coming home daily with scuffs on her leather school shoes. I decided to buy her these because of the suede material and the protective texture around the toes. I love the style and the fact that it's by Timberland. The shoe fits true to size however a HUGE flaw is that the straps aren't removable nor are they adjustable with Velcro, etc.! It is a pain to put on in the morning without a shoehorn as I have to keep coaching my daughter on how to insert her foot properly and slowly while I keep adjusting the strap to move over the top of her foot. Major design flaw and I don't see why Timberland couldn't just add a piece of Velcro to make the shoe easier to put on.SO DISAPPOINTING!!! I was SO excited to get these for my niece's second birthday. We received them, wrapped them beautifully and she was SO excited to open them!! Everyone loved them...until we tried to get them on. She is currently wearing a size 5.5 and I got a 6.5 to give her some space. Needless to say, she COULDN'T EVEN GET HER FOOT INTO THEM!!!! The strap on the top is SO TIGHT there is absolutely no give!!! SO SO SO DISAPPOINTING!! Then to go up the next size... the price DOUBLES!!!! Why in the sweet name of heaven are 2 year old shoes $50?!?!? that should be illegal!!So so so disappointing,I used the shoe specific size guide to order for a US 6.5, UK 5, Eur 37 and what I received in the mail is a shoe that has an inside label that says: US 6, UK 6, Eur 39.5. I was using the centimeters as a guide and the Eur 37 made sense. Needless to say that the shoe is at least a size and a half too big. I will need to return.It's stiff and a bit narrowIt is also hard to get the foot in especially at first. It discolours white socks, but maybe that was because of excess moisture somewhere.I still rate it high because it's holding up to my daughter.These look like great shoes, sturdy, well made, but with one critical error, it's nearly impossible to get them on a 3 year old. The side elastic had absolutely no stretch so I couldn't even get them on to confirm that they fit. And it wasn't that the shoes were too small (I suspect they were slightly too big) or too narrow. A real disappointment.Shoes looks very nice but they fit smaller than the size as my child wears a size 3.5 and the size 4 fits very close. Also the strap across does not stretch so it makes the shoes hard to go on her feet. I bought other size 4 and they fit comfortably and has room for growth but this fits closely.Nice sturdy looking shoe. I will have to return it because it runs a whole size small and is very narrow. I will order it again in a larger size.
