Our little one just didn't want the standard brown or grey boot for kids. These are high quality and one of the few that come in W sizes that are durable and waterproof. High fashion on the trails and at the campsite.easy to tighten, laces seem very narrow may not last long but since I got black will be replaceableI’m a women’s size 5-5.5 usually, I figured I’d size up to a 6 since I have a thick brace that I have to wear on one of my ankles and my socks are typically thick. I wish I wouldn’t have sized up, as these are a tad bigger than a regular 6 and a 5 probably would’ve fit perfect. That’s my fault though, otherwise these are pretty great boots!These are solid light boots for my active 9 year old, who regularly destroys shoes. They've held up pretty well through the rainy season and still look good (after a bit of a damp cloth wipe-down). The only negative is the laces and the holes where they are fed through. The laces themselves are very, very thin, almost like a the size of kitchen twine. And the ends came off really easily also, making it really difficult to insert the laces through the tiny holes. Get yourself some thicker boot laces and these are terrific kids boots--as expected from Merrell.They look just like the picture, with vibrant colors my daughter loves. She says they're comfortable and so far has done a few 3-ish mile hikes in them with no complaints.Nice shoes for the price. Shoelaces are extremely thin but expected that based on other reviews.Great value. Son loved them after a 5 mile hike - very comfortable and indeed waterproof (and he tried them everywhere possible). Only complaint are the laces - very thin and way too long. Don't see them holding up more then a few months before we'll have to replace them.Good fit. Bought a pair for each of my kids. Didn't need to "break them in". Just wore them for a few hours before our first hike to make sure they didn't rub anywhere. Haven't had a chance to really test the "waterproof".
