I twisted my ankle with a ordinary sneaker. I needed something with support. This works well. It’s good for walking on wet grass. Your feet will not get wet. The only negative comment is it doesn’t breathe like my other sneaker. It makes my feet hot and sweaty. Well, this is not a waterproof hiking shoe that breathes.My son wears a 5.5 and I wear a ladies 7.5 so our feet are the same size. I ordered these in a 6 to give him a little wiggle room to grow so they would last 6months. He said they got fine and I tried them on and my big toe hit the front of the boot sockless. My ladies merrell hiking shoes are a 7.5 and I have plenty of wiggle room for thick wool socks. Not sure if this pair was off or they run small but I returned to get him a bigger size so he doesn’t outgrow in a month. Overall good quality and comfortableThese boots walked miles over rugged country without rubbing, blisters or falling apart! Would highly recommend!Like everyone else, also received a version that was only lace up and no Velcro. Really surprised by the tie laces in a size 11 shoe. Daughter had a size 9.5 before that had elastic laces and Velcro. She could easily put them on herself. I sense the tie laces are going to be an issue but there are very few options for little girls hiking boots.Same as other reviewers -- boots had only laces, which I wouldn't have chosen. We needed them for a hike so we kept them. My son complained of rubbing/pain on the back of his ankle after about a mile. I'm hoping breaking them in will solve that problem.As an adult who can fit into kid-sized shoes, these boots have absolutely no cushion or arch support. I could tell from the second I put them on that they would be a nightmare if you did any hiking or walking in them.As with the previous reviewer, I also received shoes with ties, not velcro. Trying again at Zappos. Will be returning these.I love the fact that they make these in a wide width which is a true wide shoe. Fit is great and very comfortable.
