Sketchers has been producing light up shoes for years for kids. Unfortunately, for years, their light up shoes rarely worked past the first few months and the LEDs (light emitting diodes) often died from the harsh movements of the child. Or one shoe would work while the other died too early and the child would be disappointed. (very common with their police shoes for little boys)Apparently though, in the last year or two, quality control has improved. This Vroom model of shoes appears to have a higher quality of LEDs built into it and they can even be changed through three color choices by pushing the emblem on the side of the shoe. The tread on this Vroom model is also better than previous models and is stitched through and double glued.For my small son, previous models of Sketchers light up shoes would last him for a few months at most before the LEDs died. And the shoe would generally be coming apart by the six month mark. With this latest Vroom model both the shoe and the LEDs are still going strong at the six month mark. And the since the quality is better and my son seems happy with them, I can easily recommend them.
