I live in DC, so we don't often need to wear snow boots. So, when I realized that the blizzard of 2016 (as they call it) was really going to hit us, I knew I had to find snow boots for my 6 year old quickly. Because I needed them in just a day or two, my options were limited. Because I know she'll outgrow them in a year and because she may only need to wear them half a dozen times this year, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Plus, she has a wide foot, which can be hard to accommodate sometimes. Luckily I came across this pair of boots--available for shipping, came in wide, not too expensive, and pink! I figured that if they didn't work, I'd only be out $30 ish bucks. These are so much better than I expected. My daughter loves them and has insisted on wearing them every day, for most of the day, for the last week. She even kept them on at daycare all day long yesterday. She played in the snow for hours this past weekend and her feet stayed dry and, according to her, warm. She can splash in puddles of melting snow with no problems. These have a really good tread and they help keep even my uncoordinated daughter upright in the snow and in slippery spots. They have three different ways to help keep them snug (and to keep out the snow!) -- the Velcro across the front of the shoe, Velcro on the top of the boot to help secure it around your pants leg, and a little toggle thing in the back to keep the very top of the boot snug. The closure system really worked well for us -- like I said, her feet stayed dry as she played in the snow for hours. They're easy for her to take off and put on. And the pink is a really nice color. They seem to be pretty roomy, which is good since she has a wide foot.I would highly recommend these.Oct-2019. Update#2. These boots latest four Wisconsin winters- 3 school recesses a day. The tread is finally wearing out, but otherwise still look great. They were an awesome purchase. Nov-2015. I am updating my review. These boots made it through the entire winter last year. Got them out this week and they look great. I bought my older son a pair of boots at Walmart at the same time. They totally are trashed with holes in the bottom. I now have to buy him a new pair. These Tundra boots will definitely make it another winter. I continue to be pleased with them. My daughter has extra wide feet-like 2x or possibly even a little wider. Buying shoes/boots is a nightmare. We spent hours trudging around town trying to find boots wide enough for her. We went absolutely everywhere. Gave up, found and ordered these. I did have to even go up a size on these to get them wide enough for her toes, but she says these feel good. I love them. They are good boots. They have good traction on the bottom. They are very easy for her to put on herself- I never have to help her (shes 5) which is a major plus both at home and at recess at school. She has never complained of her feet being cold in them, and we are in Wisconsin. We've had them around 2 months and I am so far very pleased. My son loves this boot but this boot is not a 6M. We received a 6 Wide and after speaking with the manufacturer, this lime green boot is not available in a medium width. However, they did tell me that they are not much wider than a standard width so a really thick sock or two might take up the extra width. My son loves this boot and even though it is a little too wide for his narrow feet, he wants to keep it. It is well made and one of the nicest looking snow boots available so we decided to keep it. There are also many great colors available!!!!!! I would prefer that the boot fit better but my son loves it so we'll try the thicker sock and hope that is works. The manufacturers sizing is perfect and the only reason this boot is too wide for son is because it is not the 6M that we ordered, it is a 6W. We actually ordered a second pair in 6 wide red/black for my other son who needs a wide shoe and they fit perfectly. If the boot holds up through a long New England winter, we will definitely purchase these again.I'm very pleased to know there are two Velcro straps on this boot and I didn't even realize that when I bought them. BONUS :) The Velcro strap you see in the picture goes around the ankle. You can really sync that down tight. The second Velcro is up by the top of the boot where that symbol is showing. That flap opens up nice and wide. So you are able to open this boot up nicely to shove your child's foot in there. My son however has a very narrow leg so that Velcro piece I cannot sync down as tight as I'd like. But lo and behold, there is a string sync in the back of the boot to tighten it against your child's leg to prevent any snow from getting into the boot. Bottom line, there are three areas on this boot to tighten and prevent snow. The boot is a bit bottom heavy (the black) but it does not affect my 6 year old. I could see that being an issue if your child is younger. I would def buy these boots again. Bring on the winter!I got these boots for my 18-month-old. He has been wearing size 5 shoes, so I sized up to a 6 to leave room for heavier socks. These were sold as a "wide" which I wasn't sure my son needs...but they seem to fit well enough. I am hoping they will fit him through the 7 months of winter in Wyoming. I love the ankle strap and the top adjustment. I do wish the gusset was a bit bigger; my son is too young to be able to "push" his foot into the boot, so they are not the easiest to put on. It seems to be hard to find boots that zip all the way down, along with the other great features of these boots. They seem very well made, and are keeping his feet toasty warm. My husband wants them in his size. I would give 4.5 stars if I could.
