I purchased these classic Sperry penny loafers for my son's first communion after striking out at the Sperry outlet for dress shoes. Finding actual dress shoes that aren't boat shoes or bucks is very difficult for school aged boys. These penny loafers are super comfortable, according to my son and did not require any breaking in (I did have him walk around the house with athletic socks to be a more comfortable fit). I like that the soles are rubber so that I don't have to worry about my son falling on the marble floor at our church, like I have with other brands of penny loafers. Definitely recommend for dress shoes for kids! My son likes that he can put a lucky penny in the shoes and that they are slip on and don't require tying.Nice loafer for first communion. After two weeks of light wear (only during the school day - and some of that time she wore gym sneakers) the shoes tore at the top seam. Basic/classic penny loafers are difficult to find- especially in black- so we did not have a host of options and still don't.
