My son needed both boots and jazz shoes for a production of Les Mis, but since he was just a small ensemble member and not a main dancer I didn’t want to have to buy him two expensive pairs of shoes he wasn’t going to wear again. I was excited to find these jazz boots existed since they would cover both needs, especially since they were going to be lighter and easier for him to wear. A few other of the younger cast members follow suit. We ordered his size at first but had to return for a size up. Then the backs of the lace holders were a little rough - fortunately the tongue seemed to keep them from irritating his feet. He never complained and seemed to find them comfortable, and they looked great. The biggest issue I had was the sole started pulling off after just a few rehearsals. They aren’t sewn on just glued, which is fair enough for an inexpensive shoe, but he didn’t use them much and wasn’t even dancing hard in them. I ended up using duct tape to keep it on and it worked fine and lasted through the show, but still. It should have held together better. I would probably get them again if needed just in case it was a fluke, but if you are looking for something durable for weekly classes or the like, you might want to spend a little more for something better made.
