A few classes in, one shoe is wearing weirdly. She reported that it was peeling, and sure enough, the bottom of the shoe was peeling up. We realized it was a coating that had not been removed. I was able to get most but not all of it off. I will have to sand the heel if it interferes with her dancing. I'm a little disappointed with that, but it's fixable and I've already dyed the shoes black. If your shoes arrive with slick soles, you will need to remove that or the child won't have proper grip.We were really in search of traditional black, but no one had size 1s for kids without insane shipping, so we went with white. My daughter is too small for 1.5s and too big for 13.5s and at first her heel was slipping badly. She had to get thicker socks and we had to tighten the laces more. I think they will be OK. Overall, I like the feel of the material (some shoes are too stiff) and the laces (some are too slick and don't hold a knot). I don't know why there is such a serious backorder everywhere on black, but I'm glad these were an option. Maybe by the time she needs to perform she will be in the 1.5s.We bought this for our 2 year old daughter for dance class. She's always had sensitive feet, even Striders shoes can leave her feet red. She spent hours in them with out an blisters or complaining of discomfort. If your on the fence you won't be disappointed with these. This is good pair of dance shoes. The quality is the same as what you would buy in the store. What I did not realize is that these days most kids are using the shoes without laces. My daughter was the only child in the play with laces. Good quality shoe, would have chosen the style without laces to match the rest of the cast had I known that was an issue.I would recommend buying up a size then what your child is. My daughter is normally a 9.5/10 and I bought an 11 and I'm so glad I did. The 11 fits perfectly.I bought these very last min due to our dance instructor deciding they were going to do the only dance they needed new shoes for a week before the event! I was not able to return them because she had to wear something and they were way too small. I felt so bad for my daughter! There was nothing wrong with the make or quality of the shoe, just does not run TTS!My daughter loves them. She is a 3.5 and I ordered her the 4. They are a half size loose, but she loves them after wearing tight tap shoes last season.Bought these for my niece and dance. She likes them just not as comfy as she would like them to be.Bought these for my daughters jazz and baton class. Fits perfectly.
