My son is 5 and he has sensory processing disorder, it makes everything about clothes shopping difficult. Some elements aren't too bad.. Jeans, every day & night. He puts new jeans on after a bath and goes to bed in them. If it makes things easier for him, it's not like anything horrible is gonna happen to anyone just because he's wearing jeans whether he's putting them on for the hottest summer day at the splash pad, or bedtime on a school night.Shoes though... This might be the worst thing to shop for. He ended up with a pair of shoes from Oshkosh Carter's that he decided to be his perfect shoes for everything. So of course, when I went to grab another pair or 2 for there to be a pair for playing outside & another for school & appointments, maybe a pair in the next size up so we could be ready... But they're gone. Nothing like those was to be found & I was pretty sad about it until I found these. They are very similar to the beloved shoesIn fact, the shoes I was looking for were brown but he picked the blue ones to try. He was a little hesitant to try them on but immediately after standing up, he just lit up from being surprised with how comfy and happy his feet are in them. They're better than the pair we hoped to supplement, & cheaper! They hold up better and longer than 9/10 pairs from that well known mall store too! He wears them every day, these are chosen over the ones we were gonna try to supplement & the last few months he's played in them all the time. They're still completely free of holes and tears. They get extremely dirty on the outsides lol, mostly I just use oxi clean laundry spray on an old toothbrush & a little warm water & let them sit to dry overnight 1-2x each week, rather than run them thru the washer every time they're looking rough. Takes me an average of 2 min per shoe, sometimes more like 5. If it's a little too wet, I blast it with a hair drier before bed.But I think this routine maintenance light cleaning preserves their life on his feet, for the price I figured I'd already have had to replace by now (and I woulda been no less pleased to purchase a shoe he'd be so happy and free in that it helps to reduce the impact SPD has on his childhood experiences) but they're still working great! So I have this on a favorites list cuz we've found his new staple of his footwear for several sizes to come :) we will be back again and again for them lol. Please please PLEASE don't stop making these any time soon!
