The shoes are adorable. The sole is hard rubber. The ankles are padded, and the sole has a small amount of arch support. The rounded tip means they are true to size for both regular feet and wide feet. There is an extra set of soles in case you want to switch them out or overlap them. The material feels durable. The only thing that caught me off guard was how close the stitching is to the surface of the of the bottom of the shoe, meaning that after a month or two, the stitching holing the heel on will be making direct contact with the floor. I don't know how long the nylon thread can hold without ripping somewhere.Bottom line: would buy again but not this color.I bought these shoes for my 5 year old son in K who is required to wear non athletic shoes during the week for his private school. He has worn them for the entire school year and I am very impressed with the durability of the leather. He only recently started to show scuffs on the toe. And he is five. And likes to do all the crazy play things a five year old does. What I am not impressed with, and the reason I took a star off, is the sole. The rubber wore off through the stitching within about two months. And I cannot figure out how it happened. He does not dance on his heels or scuff his heels or does any type of motion that would cause this. My daughter, who has the same brand but a different color, had no such wearing. My toddler looks very handsome in these shoes. He has the white pair and this pair. I absolutely love the both pairs. My son foot couldn’t fit them. But I guess they are a good shoe. I ordered another pair from another storeThis is our second pair of these for my wide-footed son (these include both a regular and wide fit insert). I'm fairly happy with their durability - this son is hard on shoes, and given my experiences with him I'd say, on a scale of 1 to 10, their durability is about an 8. They still looked presentable enough for their dressier function by the time he outgrew them: a child that grows really fast, or that isn't hard on shoes, may never put obvious scrapes on them. These weren't, however, used as uniform shoes - just for Sunday mass - so bear that in mind. You may be better off with better leather if they'll be seeing a playground. These are leather, but the way the surface scratches when it does get damaged tells me it's not as high quality as the summary might have you believe -- I'd say the leather is mid to low grade material, but they finished it pretty durably, no less. One star docked a the midleading/unspecific description of materials, but I've found their performance satisfactory otherwise.Unisex shoe, bought these for my granddaughter to match her brown plaid school uniform. Great quality shoe and comfort. Will definitely recommend as well purchase again.I recently ordered these navy/cream oxfords for my grandson to wear in a wedding in April. They fit him well and are good looking shoes but I'm not sure if they are comfortable. He's a very picky child and he's only 4, so I'm not sure his opinion would be accurate. ha ha. But the shoes arrived just as I ordered and even came earlier than expected. I wouldn't hesitate to order again!Thank you,Lea M.while I was nervous to pay this kind of money for a shoe that my son will only wear for 6 months I was super happy with my purchase. These shoes are well worth the price. They come with a thin incert for a wide foot and thick for a thinner foot. That was awesome because my son has a fat foot. The shoes are very cute. I love them.
